Evanston: Dionysus
Evanston: Dionysus
Blindingly bright this morning. A few inches of new snow fell last night, covering the dirty old snow and leaving the world briefly pure and pristine. The sky has cleared, and the sun is out. The snow is wet enough to stick to the vertical surfaces of tree trunks, and despite strong wind clings to limbs like balls of cotton.
I walked a half mile to the post office to mail a package to myself in New Zealand. Two replacement light air vanes for the Monitor are too long to fit into my bags. I should get there before they do.
I don’t really have anything else left to do. I’m reading a book of David Malouf’s collected short stories. Finishing one, I picked up my camera and walked around the condo, looking for something to photograph. I ended up copying a photo taken, perhaps needless to say, at a wine tasting ten or more years ago in Boston that Carol keeps beside the bathroom sink. I think I was having a good time. The author as Dionysus.
