Evanston: the greatest come back
Evanston: the greatest come back
I missed the greatest baseball playoff come back in my lifetime.
I watched the first few innings of the game Thursday night between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays, but sports are only interesting when they are competitive, and Tampa Bay totally dominated. When it got to be 5-0 Tampa Bay, I switched over to a college football game. During commercials I switched back and it only got worse. It was 7-0 in the sixth inning when I turned both games off and went to bed.
Yesterday morning I got up and, curious to see by how many runs Tampa Bay won, checked the score online . Quite incredibly the Red Sox, who did nothing for the first ⅔ of the game, finally scored in the seventh inning, tied the game in the eight, and won in the ninth, 8-7. The only bigger comeback in baseball playoff history was in 1929 when the Philadelphia Athletics beat the Chicago Cubs 10-8, after being down 8-0.
