GANNET’s deck and hull are bonded together by adhesive and bolted. The bolts do not match perfectly on starboard and port, so I had to locate the sockets a few inches aft of where I would have preferred.
The holes were made at the flange where deck and hull overlap. From the removed core, deck and hull are each ¼” thick with the thin line of adhesive in between. All fiberglass. The balsa core in the deck starts a few inches inboard.
I console myself by believing that if they leak out at sea, I can cover them with duct tape.
I may row tomorrow.
Or not. I just learned that my mast and boom have shipped and are due to arrive tomorrow.

Aaron, who has a Drascombe Lugger in the Pacific Northwest, and whom I have mentioned here before, just spent four days with his family on Yellowstone Lake. What a great family vacation.
He sent me a link to some photos and short videos, which he is kind enough to let me share with you. I thank him.
When I commented about the Lugger being on a lee shore in the video at the top of the page, Aaron said that he had run stern and anchor lines ashore, and, trying to find the best position for the boat in an unexpectedly northerly, was playing them as though a big fish.
Of fish, lower on the page is a photo I recall seeing before of one of Aaron’s sons beside a son-size fish.
