Evanston: noisy weather; three on a small boat;

We live in a residential area, but with major streets and elevated train tracks near by.
During most of the year, Evanston’s climate keeps our windows and balcony doors closed. But the past few days have been perfect with temperatures here near the lake in the 70ºs F. Doors and windows are open; urban noise is pouring in. Lawn mowers, leaf blowers, cars, trucks, trains, ambulances, police sirens, airplanes, motorcycles, barking dogs. Seldom all at once; but never an instant of complete silence.
To quote the theme song from ‘Underbelly’ an Australian television crime series, “It’s a jungle out there.”

I have not written about Ginny and Steve for a while, a couple who are making a remarkable journey in their modified Sea Pearl cat ketch. They don’t post often, only three times so far this year; but then they are often not able to post.
Sea Pearls are 21’ open boats, onto which Steve grafted a cabin so small it does make GANNET’s look ‘Great.‘ (I found three Sea Pearls for sale in the U.S., including one in Chicago, oddly for prices considerably more than I paid for GANNET.)
Ginny and Steve have taken theirs, named THURSTON, after, if I remember correctly, their deceased cat, along the coast of Central America and, via rivers, though the heart of South America. They are presently in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, where Ginny has given birth to a son.
Here is a link to their most recent post.
In the second to last paragraph is a link to a video that shows THURSTON’s interior, and at the bottom a link to photos.

In yesterday’s mail I received an invitation from NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC to join their ‘Expedition’ this fall, Around The World By Private Jet. 24 days. $70,950 per person, double occupancy. $8,650 single supplement.
Clearly they have me confused with someone else.
