The above was taken last evening from our living room out through fronds of a thriving species of prairie grass in the Juliette balcony planter box.

I took a bike ride early this morning to beat the heat, but didn’t. There are constant warnings on television for old people to stay indoors. I expected someone to stop me and make a citizen’s arrest.
At the far end of Northwestern’s campus I came across these remnants of trees toppled in last month’s severe storms.
