Durban: forever is for sale
Durban: forever is for sale
Today was a perfect day. Around 80ºF/27ºC. Mostly sunny. Lovely.
The rigger arrived. Actually two. I watched them start replacing the diagonal shrouds, both lower and intermediate on both sides of the mast. Then I taxied to Musgrave Center to grocery shop. I had already made two trips ashore. One to the chandlery. One to Solly Kramer’s Bottle Shop.
When I returned from Musgrave Center the riggers had gone. Due to poor planning they have to return Monday to finish what should have been an easy one day job. And, as I found late this afternoon, they created the first scratch on my new forward hatch. It won’t be the last, but I had hoped the hatch might remain pristine for more than one week.
I painted the cockpit sole with non-skid paint this afternoon. Then went in to shower, returned to the boat and sat on deck listening to music, while drinking the last of a box of wine bought in Darwin, Australia, last June.
It is such a pleasure to have cockpit speakers again.
While sitting there I noticed something that has been in sight all along. The boat directly opposite me is named FOREVER. The name is painted on the bows in big letters. Hanging just above is a For Sale sign.
