San Diego: don’t ask; article added
I’ve owned boats for almost half a century. I usually have a good idea what things will cost and am seldom surprised. Yesterday I was.
Above you see the newly fabricated oar lock sockets. They are perfect. Exactly what I wanted, and even better. The shop made a slight change to my specifications that is a definite improvement.
On the left is the socket with the pin insert to keep water out when the oarlock is not in place.
In the middle is the socket with oarlock.
And on the right an insert pin.
Don’t ask what they cost.
I won’t tell, and you wouldn’t believe it anyway.
But they are perfect.

I am stuck at the San Diego airport waiting out thunderstorms in the Midwest. My flight was supposed to take off fifteen minutes ago and may take off in two more hours.
While sitting here, I’ve added to the articles page the piece that recently ran in CRUISING WORLD about the Torqeedo electric outboard, “Being Green.”
I like the Torqeedo. It has been perfect for my limited needs. But thanks in part to the above sockets, when I next return the little sloop will become Webb Powered, and the Torqeedo will be for sale.
If anyone is interested, let me know.
