Evanston: road hazard
Evanston: road hazard
Chicago is setting records for the longest period between snowfalls, now almost nine months, and the latest first snowfall of the season. While we have seen flurries and I woke one morning to find a dusting outside our windows, the defining .1” has not been recorded at O’Hare Airport fourteen miles southwest of us.
Yesterday was dismal with temperatures just above freezing and cold rain. Snow would have been preferable. Carol and I went out for routine weekend errands. As we pulled up to the pump at a gas station, we were confronted with the above.
I exclaimed, “Look at that guy.”
Carol said, “It’s not a guy. It’s a woman.” She was right, but irrelevant. Certain slabs of flesh are just slabs of flesh.
Urban life has hazards the ocean does not know.
Preserved for posteriority.
