Evanston:  birded; finding myself

When Carol watered the planter late this afternoon, the male bird flew off, and in the nest was not an egg but this bedraggled chick.

I did a lap around the cemetery today.

Usually when I walk through neighboring Calvary Cemetery, I continue to the lake, along South Beach, and return on surface streets.

Today I decided to follow the lane circling the edge of the cemetery, and on the Chicago side passed monuments I had not seen before.

I took this photograph because of the flowers.
Only when I cropped it did I notice the plastic dog beneath the arm, perhaps intended to accompany a child into eternity.

     I also found this.
