Cambridge: a view of Nuku Hiva
Cambridge: a view of Nuku Hiva
I’ve gone over my recent photographs. I haven’t taken many during the past three months, and few of them are any good. Mostly I’ve been at sea, and the sea was mostly flat. I think the highest wind I’ve experienced this year in the Pacific was 23 knots. The average has been below 10, which is desirable when you have a breaking shroud, until it goes too light and the sails began to collapse and fill, shaking the entire rig.
The picture above is looking ashore from THE HAWKE OF TUONELA at anchor in Taiohae Bay, Nuku Hiva. I was only there four days, the first three of which were rollier than being at sea. Obviously this was taken after the harbor smoothed out.
The village stretches along the shore beyond the picture, but is no more dense.
